Ragdoll Football’s official console controls pair Xbox and PlayStation positions: Left Stick moves, Right Stick controls camera, D-pad Up/Down zooms, A/Cross jumps, X/Square dives or hands off, RT/R2 tackles, hikes, or kicks, holding RT/R2 aims a throw, LT/L2 cancels a throw, B/Circle takes a knee, and Y/Triangle opens menus.
Xbox and PlayStation mapping
- Left Stick: movement.
- Right Stick: camera.
- D-pad Up/Down: zoom.
- A / Cross: jump.
- X / Square: dive or hand off.
- RT / R2: tackle, hike as quarterback, or kick.
- Hold RT / R2, release: aim and throw as quarterback.
- LT / L2: cancel an aimed throw.
- B / Circle: take a knee for a touchback.
- Y / Triangle: menus.
Treat each Xbox/PlayStation pair as the same physical role. This avoids translating a guide by letter alone: Xbox X is not in the same labeled family as PlayStation Cross for this mapping. The official list pairs Xbox X with PlayStation Square, and Xbox A with PlayStation Cross.
Coordinate both sticks
Left Stick moves your avatar while Right Stick changes the view. Use a steady left-stick direction and small right-stick corrections when following a route or chasing a ball carrier. Large simultaneous motions can make the avatar turn away from the play.
Quarterbacks should choose a camera view wide enough to see receivers and nearby pressure. Receivers need the incoming ball and open field in frame. Defenders need the passer, likely target, and scoring direction. Adjust D-pad zoom between plays, then leave it stable during a catch or collision.
If the camera feels too sensitive, check Roblox and device settings one change at a time. Do not install unofficial controller tools for a mapping the game already supports.
Use RT or R2 by context
On defense, close to the ball carrier and press RT/R2 to tackle. The physics system means the result depends on contact rather than a fixed animation. Arrive under control and press near the collision instead of holding the trigger from far away.
As quarterback, RT/R2 first handles the hike context. Hold it to aim a pass and release to throw. If the receiver becomes covered, press LT/L2 to cancel. The dedicated cancel trigger is a major advantage over guessing whether a throw must be forced.
As kicker, RT/R2 kicks when the game is in the kick context. Confirm the play state first. A trigger press in ordinary open play should not be treated as a guaranteed kick command.
Separate X or Square actions
The official description assigns X/Square to both dive and handoff. It does not publish the timing or distance rule that separates them. A community PC guide reports a short press for dive and a hold for handoff, but controller behavior needs direct confirmation.
Practice a short press in open space to recognize the dive. Then test a deliberate hold near a teammate in a low-risk offensive situation. Do not experiment near your own end zone or during a decisive fourth-down play.
If the game chooses dive when you wanted a handoff, do not assume the controller is broken. Teammate proximity, possession, play state, and hold duration may matter. The diving and handoffs guide separates the known mapping from the unverified thresholds.
Take a knee and open menus
B/Circle is the official take-a-knee input for a touchback. Use it only when you understand the end-zone context. A knee is not a general-purpose crouch and should not be tested blindly in open play. Read Safety and touchback if you are unsure why the location matters.
Y/Triangle opens menus according to the official description. Use it to inspect available information when the play is not active. Current menu contents and role-selection behavior can change and are not fully described by the public control list.
A five-minute controller practice
Move in four directions with Left Stick, then stop and rotate the view with Right Stick. Set one comfortable D-pad zoom. Press A/Cross once and X/Square once in safe space so the jump and dive feel distinct.
On defense, approach a runner’s path and press RT/R2 only near contact. As quarterback, hike, hold the trigger to aim, cancel with LT/L2, and repeat. Once cancellation is reliable, release a safe throw. This teaches that the two triggers have different responsibilities during a pass.
When a kick context appears, confirm the visible state before pressing RT/R2. When a touchback context appears, use B/Circle only after checking field position. Leave menu practice for a break so Y/Triangle does not distract you mid-play.
Troubleshoot console inputs
- RT/R2 tackles instead of aiming: verify that you are quarterback and that the throw state is active.
- The pass releases immediately: hold the trigger continuously, aim, and release only at the target.
- LT/L2 appears inactive: it is specifically the throw-cancel input; begin an aimed pass first.
- X/Square dives instead of handing off: test hold duration and teammate distance in a safe situation; the threshold is not official.
- B/Circle does nothing: confirm that a touchback knee is valid in the current location.
- Button names seem reversed: follow the official pairs, not identical printed letters across controller brands.
Continue with the matching job
Use Throwing for trigger aim and cancellation decisions, Tackling for approach angles, Kicker for kick contexts, or Quarterback for complete play responsibility. The Controls hub lets you compare the same action with PC or mobile.
Evidence note: every button pair in the mapping is Official, checked October 19, 2026. Handoff timing, role-menu behavior, kick power and direction, and controller prompt variations remain Needs in-game testing. Official source
